It’s that time of year again, and it would be great to get a conversation going between parents and nannies about holiday bonuses.

Parents: Do you plan to give your nanny a holiday bonus? Why or why not?

Nannies: Do you typically receive a holiday bonus? Are you expecting one this year? What do you typically receive?

If you don’t give/receive a monetary bonus, what are some gifts that you’ve given/received in the past (gift card, jewelry, new boots, snow tires, etc)?

A typical holiday (or “end-of-year”) bonus for a nanny is usually equivalent to one/two weeks’ pay, but since it is based on so many things, it tends to vary tremendously. Some families can’t afford to gift this amount, and choose to give a small gift instead, or a handmade gift from the child(ren). Here’s an article that I found helpful: https://lifeasmama.com/how-to-give-your-nanny-a-holiday-bonus/
